Board Member Roles and Responsibilities
The Board commits itself and its members to ethical, businesslike and lawful conduct including proper use of authority and appropriate decorum when acting as Board members.
Board members shall strive to:
Ensure that SDSCA supports South Dakota school counselors.
Give back to SDSCA.
Help future generations of South Dakota school counselors.
Advocate for the profession and SDSCA.
Ensure that SDSCA remains viable.
Bring issues from constituents.
Be knowledgeable about SDSCA bylaws, policies and Board decisions and communicate, clarify and support them to the constituency.
Support the fulfillment of SDSCA' vision.
Support the continuous improvement of SDSCA.
Be prepared for meetings.
Represent South Dakota school counselors.
Identify and encourage future leaders.
Draw on the experience of senior and out-going Board members to mentor other Board members helping to meet the goals of SDSCA.
